CPSC, Battat Recall Magnetic Sketchboards Due to Choking Hazard

November 2, 2011

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Health Canada, in cooperation with Battat Inc, announced the recall of the Toulouse-LapTrec magnetic sketchboards because the pens accompanying the sketchboards pose a choking hazard. This recall affects roughly 100,000 sketchboards that were distributed across North America at Target and Barnes and Noble stores from March 2010 to March 2011. The company has received 19 reports of the magnetic tip coming apart from the pen, the cause of the choking hazard, however no injuries have been reported. Consumers are being asked to immediately remove the products from children and return them for a free replacement.

As an Oakland personal injury lawyer, I’ve seen recalls like this before and know the damaging effects these defective products can have on those affected. If you’ve been injured through the use of a dangerous or defective product, it may be in your interests to call a personal injury lawyer to learn more about your rights as a consumer.
